1997
The story of No Hoodlums starts in the summer of 1997. Like almost every punk kid they wanted to form their own band. When the bassplayer Iddo and the drummer Jeroen decided to rent a practice room at the youth centre of Oosterhout the brother of the bass player, Jeroen, jumped in at guitar. The musicians were complete. Now all they needed was a lead singer. They had several singers while practicing covers from bands like The Exploited, Sick of it all and Madball. Finally in fall that year they found William who was willing to sing. He was the singer of the band at the first two shows.
1998
They recorded their first demo-tape called 'In this area'. Due to personal struggles William did not join the band too long. In the beginning of 1998 he was replaced by Mickel who was no complete stranger to the band as he already did the backing vocals on the 'In this area' demo-tape. With Mickel's history of being a punk rocker since the early eighties it was not strange it had an effect on the sound that the band would develop. In this year the band was working hard to get their gigs. Local bars and youth centres were their main stages. The lyrics were about the band's main interests, like drinking, skateboarding and political issues like racism.
1999
In this year the band's giglist grew fast. They already wrote a lot of decent songs and some of them they still play until this day. They recorded their second demo-tape called 'Join the police, arrest your friends' wich had more political lyrics, inspired by animal abuse and police brutality.
2000
No Hoodlums did their first show outside Brabant at Jailhouse in Middelharnis with Love Kills. They recorded their first studio CD called 'Chaos NL'. Some of the songs of this album also appeared on various collection CD's. The highlights of this very good year were the gig with Die Nakse Bananen in Hellevoetsluis and the appearance at the first Punk is dead-festival at Doornroosje in Nijmegen.
2001
They recorded their second studio album '...This is brainwashing'. Some songs were played on a dutch radiostation called Kink FM. Some of the best shows that year included two shows with Antidote, again Die Nakse Bananen and Funeral Dress. With their gig list still growing rapidly, they planned their 'Fuck you' tour. Unfortunatly they had to cancel all the shows because of a heavy injury of their guitar player. It seemed they ran out of luck as the bass player decided to quit and continue his hardcore band D-Fens. With their biggest fan Stefan to replace him, they were able to keep up their heads and play on.
2002
The new bass player picked up the old songs very quickly and managed to create a complete new bass style in the new songs. Still working hard to get their gigs they got a second chance for their 'Fuck you'-tour, but once again they had to cancel some of the shows. This time because of an arm injury of the drummer. After a few months, when the drummer was able to hold his sticks again, they recorded a new demo-CD called 'Sunday morning, still at the bar'. Since then they are playing more than ever, showing that punk is not dead yet!
